Neo Geo

The Neo-Geo hardware began with the Neo Geo arcade cabinets (MVS) released by SNK in 1990. These machines had incredibly powerful specs and high quality graphics and sounds, which made the  Neo Geo very popular.  An interesting part of Neo Geo arcade cabinets is that they were capable of holding as many as six different arcade games!!

At the time of its release, the Neo-Geo was way ahead of other consoles in terms of its raw power, not even the Sega or Nintendo machines were close to this bad boy! Another great selling point of the Neo-Geo was that the cartridge games could play on either a US or JP console.

In play, the Neo-Geo stick was better than any other controller at the time,  the stick mechanism was perfect and had a delightful click, and it was great for playing the fighting games that dominated the platform. So the SNK stick was an excellent standard controller that was great for the games library which incuded alot of button bashing arcade style games!.

The console's cutting edge technology commanded a high price at retail for both games and systems.  You could expect to pay an exorbitant £600 for a system and around £125-£200 per game.  But what you did get was exact arcade quality games at home to play!
