Not buying a Master System until much later, I didn't get to play this game until around 2005, when I purchased a large auction of Sega Master System games and accessories, and then added this game to my collection.

It was a true platform experience, featured some very unique stages, and was a great game to play!

Technically, it is the same as the Game Gear version, just meant for the big screen. Oddly enough, though, even though it doesn't have quite the graphical power of the Sega Genesis version, I kind of liked this game better. It was a true platform experience, featured some very unique stages, and was a great game to play!

In my opinion, it is much better than Sonic 2 on the Master System, though Sonic 2 for the Genesis is very, very good. The story for the Master System version is the same as the original.

The evil Dr. Robotnik has set out to turn many of the animals of the world into his nasty robotic creations, so the anthropomorphic hedgehog named Sonic, who is very fast on his feet, sets out to put an end to Robotnik's plans. He also looks for the Chaos Emeralds so that Robotnik won't be able to use them for his nefarious plots!

1991 was the year that I got my Super Nintendo, and being more of a Nintendo fangirl than a Sega one, I was very busy playing all the neat games it had to offer. In truth, I didn't even get a Sega Genesis until some time after its release, so most of the Genesis games are ones I didn't get to play until around 1994.
