Mega CD

BORN IN 1991

The Mega-CD was developed as an add on to the Mega Drive (Genesis) console at the height of new CD technology for games in the early 90's.

Operational with a motorized tray on the Mega Drive Mk1 and a flip open CD version for the Mk2.  It operated games discs as well as music CDS and CD+G discs. It had a short lifespace but played host to classics such as Sonic CD, Snatcher and Batman Returns.  The main selling point of the Mega-CD was that it delivered real video footage in gameplay!  Games like Night Trap and Ground Zero Texas have a cult following and were way ahead of their time.  Night Trap even included TV celebrities!!
