Pioneers of videogames
Once upon a time, not that long ago...some very special people created videogames...
There was once a time when videogames were made by people who were our gods..we went in to the computer shops during the 1980s and there they were....the Pioneers of videogames...
...and Andrew Hewson was one of them. From the early days of the ZX81 through to the Amiga...Hewson Consultants were part of a revolution in Britain that sparked a whole generation of young people (including us at GamesYouLoved) not just to take an interest in a new hobby..but to be come obessed with videogames. The computer stores up and down the high street contained little boxes of gaming joy with wonderful artwork and packaging that blew our minds. And then there's the games.
Our Hewson favourites are a real hit list and they are legends in the 80s world of micro computers; Uridium, Paradroid, Nebulus and Zynaps are just some of the names that we still recall and play to this day.But the reputation of Hewson goes beyond making games with fantastic art and gameplay. They were true pioneers earning the respect of hardcore gamers and the gaming community and industry.
How?
Andrew Hewson wanted to create ways of allowing people in the industry to gain insight into how to create strong and powerful concepts, expert code and games that would last forever because they had foundation. Now many years later Andrew Hewson, working alongside his son Rob Hewson is opening up his story to us now. What a great opportunity to hear how it was all done.
GamesYouLoved wholeheartly supported the Hewson Consultants Kickstarter to finish and publish this wonderful book of computing history. We are just waiting for this great book to come out so we can review it for you.
