After the influence of Maverick in Top Gun, Sega rose to the challenge and felt 'the need for speed' and brought this to life in Afterburner.

Afterburner delivered both in gameplay and with the all around movement of the cabinet Afterburner in the arcades this was the version for gamers.

This was all about fast moving arcade action rather than a stategy. More fast hands and quick reactions - like Space Harrier in the arcades too.  

Taking your controls straight into the action, you'll be firing missles and gunning down the enemy, then powering up your afterburners to speed away.  Another Sega classic in the arcade that was loved by 80's gamers and ported to many consoles and micros of the time too.
