The aim is to guide your frogs to their homes negotiating a busy freeway and treacherous river along the way.  Developed by Konami and distributed by Sega/Gremlin, this novel top-down adventure has mass appeal because it is so simple, fun, and full of character.

Along with Donkey Kong and Pac Man Frogger is also recognised as one of the first character based games.

Hop and dodge your way to the safety of your swampy frog 'bays' with the timed nudges of the joystick, starting at the bottom of the screen working your way to the goals at the top. The screen is split into two, the bottom half a thoroughfare full of speeding traffic, the top a fast flowing river.

Avoid hurtling wagons, bulldozers and even dune buggies as you cross the road, before negotiating the river and utilising backs of turtles and logs to skip across, avoiding crocs, snakes and otters to your make it to your destination.

Bold, colourful graphics and a light, snappy soundtrack made this a popular game in arcades back in the golden era of arcade gaming.
Its legacy lives on in the form of countless remakes and sequels on pretty much every platform, from early LCD handhelds, to current mobile devices and more.

Along with Donkey Kong and Pac Man Frogger is also recognised as one of the first character based games.
