When Microsoft announced they were going into console gaming, gamers were either curious or
perhaps even unsure of what to expect.
Microsoft had truly laid down the armoured gauntlet of the
Master Chief
They were wrong. With Halo, Microsoft and Bungie's huge launch title, it launched a gaming real time experience with action like you'd never experienced before. Microsoft had truly laid down the 'armoured' gauntlet down of the Master Chief, (our Hero and protaginist) to the likes of Nintendo and Sony back in 2001.
The World of Halo is set in the twenty-sixth century and the earth has sure changed, but this battle was set not on earth. As Halo is an artificial alien world where the Master Chief and is his crew of trust soldiers were set to uncover it's alien secrets.
The game had so many cool goodies to mention - the Assualt Rifle, other guns (including the Alien guns) as well as grenades made this a whole lotta fun. Jumping onto armoured Jeeps with mounted guns and buddying up was just amazing. Two player and even 16 Player LAN parties, made this one of the most popular mutiplayers of all time. Even then for Microsoft this wasn't enough - they literlally blew the competion away with the Halo online play on Xbox Live. Bungie (the developers) and Microsoft had created a gaming classic that in years to come will be regarded as one of the true greats alongside the games of yesteryear.
