The best strategy I've found is to save up the special attacks till the boss fight but I still like to us a couple of them on the tigers...yes TIGERS...there's nothing like delivering a roundhouse kick to a tigers face!

One of the first NES Games I played was Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu

You play as Jackie Chan (obviously)...the game begins with you and your sister out for a stroll when an evil green demon appears and kidnaps your sister....this is where you come in.  Jackie begins his adventure meditating then saying his farewell to his master before beginning his journey into the unknown.

The controls are simple but functional, you have a jump button and an attack button. You can either punch, crouch and kick or jump and fly-kick. However there are little green frogs scattered throughout the levels, if you attack them they will either drop a rice bowl that refills your health, or a special attack upgrade which gives you a special move that you can pull off by holding up and attack, these range from spinning kicks to upwards handstand kicks.

Tight controls and great lever design is what makes this game though. Jackie responds perfectly to your input and the the way the levels are put together are sublime. A great variety of enemies and different level types make this game a must own for any NES fan.
One of the first NES Games I played was Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu and how fitting it is that I still regard this game as one of the all time classics on the NES.
