This game is up there with the classics of retro gaming- graphics are bright and bold and very impressive for the time and the console (Sega Master System).

What I love about the game is the different abilities you gain

I remember playing Wonder Boy IIIThe Dragon's Trap  game for the first time at a friends house and couldn't believe the vastness of the game.

I was also astounded how much the capability of the Master System could have if it was used the right way. Looking at other titles like teddy boy and haunted house there was maybe one screen to play on and it quickly got tiresome. Wonder boy 3 had many levels, shops, secret doors and abilities to explore. If you were attacked and fell in the water you didnt die like most other titles - you went to another section of the game and carried on.

What I also love about the game is the different abilities you gain, the different characters you become. You start of as Wonder Boy in human form with full health and armour then during a boss battle you are transformed into a fire breathing lizard with no health or defence. You then have to built up your health and along the way collect coins and power ups to help beat the tougher enemies later in the game. After each dragon boss battle with each dragon having different attacks you transform into another creature.Whether it be a hawk, mouse or piranha man whom have there own abilities to get to certain doors and levels which you missed previously with your other characters.

Overall the game was easily a ten out of ten in the day and I think it has aged well, and is easy to get immersed into once again. I beleive that the majority of gamers will think the same and hopefully with reading the review give the old cartridge a dust off and go dragon slaying.
