Altered Beast

Altered Beast is a side scrolling arcade classic that was a mega hit in the arcade and thrived as a top Mega Drive and Genesis title in the early days of the console.

I will always love this game. If you havent played it I highly recommend it.

On its initial Arcade release it was a big hit but soon took off with its console release in 1988. 

I was 7 years old. I really wanted a Master Mystem for Christmas. Alex Kidd was the be all and end all. My Dad and I went to the retailer to get a free go on the game which was exciting in its self until my Dad caught eye of a muscle man tranform into a dragon!!!! He persuaded me to play that and thus my love for the megadrive was born. (Thanks dad) 

A great 2 player side scrolling game. Great soundtrack and a voice that I will haunt me forever "Welcome to your doom" who I thought was based Richard O Brien at the time!

I just remember how cool it was to defeat these beasts to get these spheres and put on ott muscle then transform into these amazing beasts! A bear that turns people to stone with its breath is just incredible for a 7yr old (now 32). 

And I always remember wanting to play this game with my friends but their mum forbade it as it was about reincarnation and steroids and they didn't believe in it. Not sure about their views on steroids though. This made the game even more amazing to me! 

I will always love this game. If you havent played it I highly recommend it.
