The brainchild of AM2's Yu Suzuki, Virtua Fighter was released in 1993 as an arcade game.

Win by time out, ring out or KO!!!!
Using hardware jointly developed by aerospace technology firm Lockheed Martin and Sega dubbed the "Model 1" !! It is considered the first polygon-based fighting game. It introduced the 8 initial fighters as well as the big boss, Dural

This Saturn version is almost spot on in comparison to its arcade grandaddy. You have your classic arcade mode, Vs mode, ranking mode and option mode. Arcade mode plays how you would expect it too, it is a 3 button fighter. Punch, Kick, and Guard; this suits well to the placement of the Saturn controller's 6 face buttons.

You can win by ring out, time out and KO ring out being the unique one in particular since Virtua Fighter was literally the first decent 3D fighting game that had this feature in its gameplay.

The Sega Saturn version of Virtua Fighter is nearly a clone to its arcade even when it comes to gameplay and controls. When using the Saturn's controller, the fighting feels crisp, accurate and realistic; your attacks have a real sense of distance, motion and impact when battling your opponent in the 3D arena you occupy, increasing the level of immersion as you play against the computer or another player.
