Atari Inc.

PC

BORN IN 1972Atari has such a rich history in gaming that it would take not just one but many books to cover this fantastic story.

Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney developed Atari inc when they worked at Nutting Associates making video arcade games and supporting this new entertainment medium which was to about explode. Computer Space and SpaceWar had been created by tech heads and computer geniuses, yet videogames hadn't taken hold of the general population.

But in 72 Atari was set up and this was all about to change. Bushnell named the company Atari inspired by the game "GO" - as the 'move before making the final win'.

Atari not only started to create an impact in the arcades, they found a way of making money and marketing themselves. But Atari was more than this, like any great business that takes hold of an industry - they were pioneers. They had a dream and vision, a picture of what the games and the future could look like and they made that dream a reality.  Famous for their consoles especially the Atari 2600, they made splash in the computing world with the Atari 400 and 800XL computers.
