When it comes to SWAT teams, Los Angeles has the most famous of all.

You must guide your team, starting out with three members, vertically up the screen, dispensing immediate and final justice to anyone with spiky hair and something in their hand.Andy Pryer

Who wouldn't want to spend time with these arse-kickers. Look at the guy on the cover: he's got a huge gun and from the look on his face I'd say he's very comfortable with it.

You need a particular kind of arrogance to wear mirrored shades while holding a weapon of that size. In the city of LA mischief is afoot. There are punks on the streets wielding blunt objects and must be immediately SHOT ON SIGHT! The only other demographic in this town are elderly persons who walk into the fray while trying to remember where they were going and, if accidently shot, will reduce your score. In order to clean up the street lined by enormous Batenburg cakes (I say this singular as there is only one, long, straight road with no traffic) you must guide your team, starting out with three members, vertically up the screen, dispensing immediate and final justice to anyone with spiky hair and something in their hand.

As they pirouette out of alleyways they'll also hurl bombs your way. Your team will eventually be over run one by one as what starts out as a turkey shoot quickly becomes an all out riot. The officers widows will receive a folded flag and a meager pension but they can take comfort in the fact that Hank died doing what he loved and he even took a few of them with him.

Perhaps not the greatest game in the world but it's simplicity makes it an easy game to pick up and a fun one to return to every so often. It soon becomes fairly tricky as the player's firing directions are limited making large blind spots in your arcs calling for a modicum of target prioritising. For 1.99 it was worth a punt then and it's worth a punt now. It will remain a guilty pleasure of mine for the foreseeable future.
